Assemblyman Gary D. Finch (R,C,I-Springport) is pleased to announce that he has received the endorsement of the National Rifle Association (NRA). The NRA Political Victory Fund grades candidates based on their commitment to supporting the Second Amendment.

Along with their endorsement, Finch earned a grade of A.

“Safe, responsible ownership of firearms is a part of our rural tradition. Our constitution is clear – Americans have a right to secure their homes. Sportsmen and outdoor enthusiasts have the right to bear arms. I will be working hard to protect our constitutional rights in Albany, and I am gratified that the NRA recognizes that,” said Finch.

Finch has consistently opposed The NY SAFE Act, a much-maligned gun control law that the governor rushed through the Legislature with minimal oversight or public input.

The SAFE Act has burdened responsible gun owners without curbing the flow of illegal hand guns that escalate the intensity of violent crime. Parts of the SAFE Act, like an ill-advised provision to limit firearms to seven bullets even though there are virtually no seven- bullet magazines, have been struck down as unconstitutional.

Finch has also been critical of the Obama Administration’s Executive Orders on gun control, citing them as progressive overreach.
