FINCH PLEASED GOV. CUOMO, V.P. BIDEN DISCUSSING PAID FAMILY LEAVE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 29, 2016

“I’ve been saying for years that it should be a little easier for middle-class families to get ahead. We have a responsibility to provide hardworking families with a little more breathing room, especially when they’re experiencing dramatic change. That is why I’m so encouraged that the governor focused on paid family leave during his meeting with Vice President Biden today. It is a moral imperative to ensure that parents have time to develop a special bond with their child. It is a moral imperative to give families some relief when they’re taking care of a loved one who has fallen ill. As budget talks intensify, I’m sure there will be lively debate about the details of this program, but I know that compromise is always possible where we find shared values. I think that good New Yorkers on both sides of the aisle value family life, and that is why we will get this done this session.”
