A Statement by Assemblyman Gary D. Finch (R,C,I-Springport)

“To surrender to the U.S. Attorney, to be fingerprinted and experience the humiliation of a mug shot would be sufficient to compel most people to resign from public office. However, if you have read the exhaustive indictment of Sheldon Silver, you know that he values power and money-$3.7 million- more than his integrity and the oath that he took to serve the people of New York.

“I am urging him to do the right thing and resign.

“There are honorable public servants on both sides of the aisle in the New York State Assembly. We need a new speaker immediately. We must select a speaker who will provide integrity, stability and accountability as we begin crucial budget negotiations.”
