NEW YORK STATE SEEKING CORRECTION OFFICER CANDIDATES Deadline to register for test February 24, 2016

Assemblyman Gary D. Finch (R,C,I-Springport) today announced that the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision is seeking candidates to fill correction officer vacancies. The Department of Civil Service will administer an examination for prospective officers on April 9, 2016. The deadline to apply is February 24.
Finch is a member of the New York State Assembly Committee on Corrections.
“Correction officers are an essential part of our state government’s mission to keep our families safe,” said Finch. “Successful correction officers display the highest levels of integrity and grace under pressure. I know there are people in our community who would excel in such a profession.”
Finch noted that correction officers enjoy competitive compensation and health and retirement benefits. Trainees earn a salary of $40,590 per year that escalates to $48,889 annually after completion of the traineeship.
Applications to sit for the April 9 exam can be completed online at www.cs.ny.gov/exams. Applications need to be filled out by February 24.
