FINCH, COOGAN CUT RIBBON AT COSTCO GRAND OPENING
Camillus Town Supervisor Mary Anne Coogan and Assemblyman Gary D. Finch (R,C,I-Springport) joined town council members and business leaders in Camillus this morning at the much-anticipated grand opening of Costco, the giant discount retailer. This is the first Costco to open in upstate New York.
“We’ve sent a strong message to job creators looking to set up shop in our community: if you come to Camillus, we’ll roll out the red carpet, not stack rolls of red tape,” said Finch.
“Costco is here because Supervisor Mary Anne Coogan has catalyzed economic development by partnering with the business community,” added Finch.
Costco officials were pleased to help career employees relocate back to their roots. In all, Costco is bringing 200 jobs to our community.
“This is economic development in action,” said Finch. “At a time when talented members of our workforce have been leaving New York, it is exciting to know that we’ve brought native Central New Yorkers home by paving the way for this store.”
Costco is the first business to open its doors in the Township 5 development in Camillus. The sprawling commercial campus will include eateries like Mesa Grand Taqueria, Red Robin, Longhorn Steakhouse, Buffalo Wild Wings and Papaya Asian Kitchen.
Metro Mattress, GNC and Hair Studio One are also confirmed tenants of the Cameron Group, Township 5’s developer. A movie theatre and ninety-six upscale apartments are also slated for the complex.
“We need to continue the momentum right here in Camillus. That is why I will keep advocating for the regulatory reforms and lower taxes that will allow job creators to invest in our community with confidence and optimism,” concluded Finch.
Finch is endorsed by pro-business groups, including the National Federation of Independent Business, Unshackle Upstate and the Empire Chapter of the Association of Builders and Contractors.
